 The Hyundai HL740-9 Wheel Loader, equipped with a 2.1 m³ bucket, is built for operations where consistent loading, transport, and stockpiling form part of the daily cycle. Powered by the Hyundai HE 6.7 electronically controlled diesel engine, it delivers reliable, fuel-efficient performance across varying load conditions.

The high-pressure common rail fuel system and advanced combustion technology optimise the fuel-to-air ratio, ensuring strong torque response and efficient power delivery during repetitive load-and-carry cycles. Selectable engine modes—Power, Standard, and Economy—allow operators to match output to the task, reducing fuel consumption during lighter work while maintaining performance when required.

Controlled Power and Smooth Drivetrain Response

The HL740-9 features a fully automatic, electronically controlled transmission with four shift modes—Manual, Light, Normal, and Power—allowing performance to be matched to the application. Whether transporting material over distance or performing short-cycle loading, the system ensures smooth, efficient power transfer.

A proportional modulation valve with a self-adjusting clutch gap minimises shift shock during direction changes, improving operator comfort and reducing drivetrain wear. A kick-down function and FNR switch on the joystick further enhance responsiveness and control. The load-sensing hydraulic system, combined with pilot-operated joystick control, delivers fast, precise boom and bucket movement.

Durability, Efficiency and Simplified Maintenance

  • Designed for demanding conditions, the HL740-9 features a rigid front axle and ±12° (total 24°) oscillating rear axle to maintain ground contact, improving stability and traction on uneven terrain. Reinforced components, including a cast steel steering cylinder lug, enhance long-term reliability.
  • A remote-mounted, hydraulically driven cooling fan automatically adjusts speed based on operating temperatures, reducing fuel consumption and noise. The integrated reversible function prevents debris build-up, maintaining cooling efficiency and reducing maintenance downtime in dusty environments.
  • Automatic boom kick-out and bucket positioner functions maintain consistent loading angles, improving cycle times and reducing operator fatigue. An integrated load weighing system, accessible via the cabin monitor, prevents overloading and improves material management.

Operator Comfort and Jobsite Awareness

The cab is designed for long operating hours with reduced fatigue. A pressurised, sound-suppressed environment limits dust and noise, while automatic climate control maintains consistent working conditions.

A redesigned cab with rounded front and larger door glass improves visibility, enhancing awareness during loading and transport. A 5.7-inch colour LCD monitor on a swivel mount provides real-time machine data, diagnostics, and system monitoring, including the standard load weighing system and rear-view camera feed.

Ergonomic features such as a tilting and telescopic steering column, adjustable wrist rest, and intuitive joystick controls allow operators to customise their working position for improved comfort, precision, and productivity.
